The Origins of Airmail in China & Hong Kong 1919-1922

MUKDEN No prepared landing places are available. The country is generally suitable, however, with little preparation. TSINAN There are many suitable provisional starting and landing places and many sites which could be converted into excellent aerodromes. Everything would have to be constructed ab initio. SWATOW There are no places suitable. TIENTSIN There is no aerodrome but landings and startings have been made with success. The soil is generally soft and the country flat. Suitable places could be made with little trouble by filling in and draining cracks, creeks, graves and ditches. WUCHOW At Wuchow itself no suitable ground for an aerodrome exists. A few miles up the Fu River there are said to be some terraces which with preparation might be adapted to landing places for aeroplanes. CHENGTU
