Factories capable of Repairing Damaged Aircraft. SHANGHAI The Shanghai Garage Co. are capable of repairing engines and of making most parts. The main difficulty being the lack of suitable material. The shipbuilding companies would probably be in a position to provide facilities for repairing aeroplanes if the demand existed. HONGKONG With the possible exception of the shipbuilding works there are no factories fitted to deal with repairs to aircraft. CANTON There are a number of workshops distributed about the province capable of repairing damaged aircraft. The shops are rather on the small side and a number of them will be found in every town in the province. ICHANG Engineering facilities under foreign control may possibly be available next year (1921). AMOY The Amoy Shipbuilding Yard, situated at the north-west corner of Amoy Island, could undertake ordinary work. SHANGHAI The workshops and staff of Messrs. The Arts and Crafts Ltd., are fully equipped both for the manufacture and repair of all wooden parts of aircraft. A new factory has just been completed, built of reinforced concrete in fireproof compartments. It is well lighted and roomy. It comprises cabinet making, wood carving, polishing, upholstering, glass and metal working, and fitting up shops. HANKOW There are factories (saw mills, roomy woodworking shops, etc.) available that could be adopted for the manufacture of aviation material. Skilled Labour. SHANGHAI
