2 An Introduction to AUTOPOSTA https://philatelic-literature.com sales@philatelic-literature.com 2012

3 AUTOPOSTA Autoposta is sometimes referred to as “mobile post office” but this does not truly reflect the work of the autoposta. Perhaps “mobile post and telegraph office” is more accurate. From the beginning autoposta sold postage stamps and postal stationery cards. It also provided radio, telephonic and telegraphic services. It was designed to be present at important festivals, exhibitions and sporting events in order to provide services to the public. It was equipped with special datestamps which originally were struck in orange. All this is reflected in the design of the information folder which dates from 16th October 1937. The information folder was amended in March 1938. The pages which follow illustrate how, as always, postal history is also social history. They also demonstrate how a most attractive and interesting collection can be formed purely from autoposta material at relatively little cost.
