THE PERSIAN AIR MAIL

13 April 1927 14 April 1927 The British were considering routes to link Iraq and India. The Officer commanding RAF Iraq sent a detailed report to the Air Ministry in London concerning the proposed route across southern Persia from Ahwaz to the Indian railhead at Duzdap (Zahedan). The report shows that its author was well aware that the pilots of the 1920s had to have contingency plans in the event of mechanical breakdown or forced landing due to adverse weather conditions:
