13 December 1927 Telegram: “Confidential. Despatch goes by bag containing text of the Persian-Soviet agreement for interchange of air post between Enzeli and Baku. A few flights to Meshed have recently been made by Junkers and in view of the recent Persian-Afghan neutrality pact which may I understand be followed by commercial and postal agreements possibility cannot be ignored of Junkers being authorised to carry post between Tehran and Afghanistan. Is it possible for His Majesty’s representative at Kabul to obtain any information on this point? From Minister, Tehran To Foreign Office, London” 22 December 1927 Junkers is negotiating with the government of Afghanistan for a subsidised extension of the service from either Meshed or Duzdap to Kabul. Minute for Political Department: “The possibilities of the extension of the Persian Junker Company’s service from Tehran via Meshed or Duzdap to Afghanistan have been discussed. We have now heard from Sir F.H.Humphrys that an agreement has been signed with Russia for a service between Tashkend and Kabul. This for the time being must necessarily prevent extension of the Persian service to Afghanistan as the number of Afghan passengers for Europe would not be sufficient to make one route pay, much less two. Moreover we understand that the conditions offered by Junkers for the extension were not very acceptable to Afghanistan.” Press Release from Junkers for the year 1927: « Voyages 1,047 Kilomètres parcourus 193,000 Passagers plus de 2,800, dont 300 femmes et enfants Poste 750kg, en majoritésur la ligne Téhéran-Meshed, qui est desservie quotidiennement Bagages et marchandises 37,506kg Heures de vol 1,400
