THE PERSIAN AIR MAIL

4 April 1925 From British Air Ministry: “The Air Council suggests that the Persian government should be informed that the aerodromes at Bushire, Bunder Abbas, Jask and Charbar are regarded by HM government as forming a route which they hope may be kept permanently open for flying. In order to provide for a regular service some slight improvements would be required which would it is thought involved little expenditure. A survey of intermediate emergency landing grounds would however be requisite. When a service is actually started the Persian Government would become responsible for the provision of customs officials at the various ports of call but apart from this it is not thought that any further commitment on the part of the Persian Government would be involved. As Persia is a member of the International Commission of Air Navigation this route should be open to other members of the Commission and to other States with whom Persia may contract special agreements. No special concession would therefore be involved in permitting the use of this route by British aircraft. Signed WH Nicholson” 6 April 1925 First flight Teheran-Khanaqin.
