THE PERSIAN AIR MAIL

The press announced that Jarolimek has some further proposals to make to the Persian Government, principally connected with the route from Europe to Teheran via Angora and Tabriz. Jarolimek brought with him a present from Field Marshal Hindenburg to Reza Khan. 9 December 1925 The British Foreign Office sent a cipher telegram in reply to Sir Percy Loraine's telegram of 24 November 1925: Reference your telegram 374 24/11 (Competition between French and German companies for aviation concessions in Persia). Air Ministry are doubtful whether air services in Persia could be operated efficiently by French company. On the other hand it is probable that Junkers will withdraw on account of financial difficulties in Germany which have led to their absorption by Deutsche Aero Lloyd. The above is given for your information only. You should avoid expressing any views to Reza Khan as it would involve us in difficulties with either German or French Governments if it became known that you had been consulted in this matter.
